About Us

Since 1919, Junior Achievement, or JA, has been providing hands-on economic education for students in order to prepare them for their future roles as leaders, voters, consumers, and employees. JA will reach over 10,000 students in eastern North Carolina this year, with over 4.2 million students reached worldwide.

ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES

Purpose - Junior Achievement educates and inspires young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics in order to improve the quality of their lives.

Mission - Junior Achievement will ensure that every child in America has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system.

PARTNERSHIPS AND SUPPORT

Community Partnerships - A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Junior Achievement is only able to provide its economic-education programs to schools through contributions of time and money by local businesses, civic groups, foundations, PTAs, and individuals who share JA’s goals for greater economic understanding and workforce readiness. This support takes many forms, whether as a direct contribution, participation in special events, or volunteering in the classroom.

Business-Education Partnerships - Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina, Inc. partners business and education with the help of business volunteers who visit area classrooms. These role models lead economic-education activities for students in grades K-12, where students learn about the "real world" of business.

Other Support - Junior Achievement receives no government support, nor is it a United Way agency. Only gifts specifically designated to JA can be received through the United Way campaign.
